We work hard to make videos on YouTube Kids family-friendly and use automated filters built by our engineering team, human review, and feedback from parents to protect our youngest online users. However, no system is perfect and inappropriate videos can slip through, so we're always working to improve our protections and provide more features to help parents create the right experience for their families.

Use parental controls to customize your child's experience

Limit screen time: Set limits on how much time your kids can watch and help encourage them to transition from watching to doing.

Know what they're watching: Just check out the Watch Again page and you'll always know what they're watching and the latest interests they're exploring.

Block: Don't like the video? Block a video or an entire channel to never see it again.

Report: You can alert us to inappropriate content at any time by reporting a video for review. Flagged videos are reviewed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Software Highlights

Create an experience as unique and personal as your child's

Create up to eight child profiles, each with their own viewing preferences, video recommendations and settings. Choose from "Approved content only" mode, or select the age category appropriate for your child, "Preschool," "Younger," or "Older."

If you want to hand-pick the videos, channels, and/or collections that you've approved for your child to watch, select "Approved content only" mode. In this mode, kids won't be able to search for videos. Designed for children ages 4 and under, Preschool mode curates videos that promote creativity, fun, learning, and exploration. "Young" mode allows kids ages 5-8 to explore their interests in a variety of topics, including songs, cartoons, and crafts. And our Older mode gives kids ages 9 and up the chance to search and explore additional content, like kids' pop music and gaming videos.
